Unless you are out of fuel, this is likely an electrical component issue and there are a lot of possibilities. 3 mechanical checks- engine needs fuel, spark, and compression. Listen for fuel pump when key is turned to on, check fuel pressure.. check spark from wire/ coil pack, check compression.

2004 audi a4 quattro 3.0l. Car will start fine when the engine is either cold or sits for a while. Once the car warms up epc light comes on and won't go passed 4000rpm. Has a rough idle. Throwing a bunch of coded can it be a bad evap purge valve. Also the car shakes can feel it in the seat.
